After purchasing HueForge, I couldn't help but wonder if the same basic technique couldn't be applied to 3D models where a texture map was available. For example, many 3D scanners can simultaneously capture the geometry and the texture.
It's a great question. I think there are a few issues holding it back. The biggest of course is the nozzle diameter. 0.08mm is really kind of the maximum for good filament paintings and 0.04mm is often markedly better. But nozzles under 0.2mm are VERY hard to find and even hard to print with. This means that you would need highly translucent materials which I think would provide less satisfying final results.
The alternative is 5-axis printing, which might be an option, but the math is kind of hard. So it's something I've definitely considered, but it is not something I'll be working on SOON.
Fascinating! I think as an intermediate step, I can "unwrap" or "unfold" 3d models to print them in 2d, then reassemble them like a Pepakura/papercraft model. It would allow for some amazing artificial depth and detail, but more complex geometry. Thanks for the response!
I was going to buy " Professional Commercial Lifetime License" but I am worried about 'no updates afterthe first 2 years.'.
Can you tell me about the expected cost to get updates after 2 years? I look at how the other slicers in the world have continued to grow year after year... I am assuming there is a liklihood of this being the same.
I am excited to support your project, I just want to understand the plan so I can make the right purchase for myself.
1) Optional for me. I get to choose at two years if it's something I need to do or not.
2) the fee will be the Limited Commerical Annual fee or less.
3) There is not a requirement for continuous payments. You could wait a year (so a total of 3 years) and decide you want the new features and pay the fee and get everything up to that point as well as the next year's worth.
4) Whether you pay or not, you retain full usage and commerical rights forever.
Not in the purchase. I'm still rendering and uploading tutorials to YouTube, 3 are up and should be enough to get you started, but I will have Filament Library and Slider tutorials up soon as well and then separate Lithophane and STL Coloring to follow.
When I go to extract, My antivirus is giving me a warning of a specific trojan threat. I am assuming this is not the case but how do I get around it. I is keeping me from opening the exe
Congrats!
Off to a lifetime of Hueforging, LET'S GOOOO!!!
If I buy the lifetime commercial membership will I eventually get the Mac DMG as well or is that a separate purchase?
You will get Linux and Mac under the same purchase.
Being at work and not being able to download is killing me lol. Only an hour and a half left though.
LETS FREAKING GO!!!!! Lifetime level achieved.
Sweet thank you!
Will there be an option in the future like, autogenerate colored picture with 1-4 or more colors?
I think the AI can handle that?
Or maybe not?
Regards

Yes this I think is the right way to think about it.
I need a Discord Invite. Thank you

The two year cutoff on support is
1) Optional for me. I get to choose at two years if it's something I need to do or not.

Looking for a detailed walkthrough of slicing in Bambu Studio, limited commercial licensee here. Yay mee.
Hello,
Before I purchase, documentation is included?
Thank you.

I am very much enjoying the honest as can be video style, I look forward to any helpful info you have to share. 👍
Will the Filament Library tutorial include how to determine the TD for our filaments? I assume some kind of test print is necessary? :D
I will add a couple of options on that in videos
So open it up and just...play with stuff? :)
Well I recommend watching the videos and then opening it up and.... Playing with stuff...

Can you send me an image of the warning on Discord following the link? I'd like to figure this out because it only seems to affect very few people
I got it turned off and working...Thank you Steve
Just FYI to anyone that sees this - out of 59 scanner, only Windows Defender thinks the zip file is dangerous. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/ddac933ce94e6ce9ae10ddb1aca8b6b1013615ddbfca2c7daf0f9b4871327024/detection
And if I extract and drop the EXE onto this same tool, it passes the scan.
And The Limited Commercial zip passes just fine (no change to the exe, just a PNG and extra license document.

could you post the link for the discord please
It's in your purchase email
I have purchased. unzipped. for the life of me I can not find the executable file to launch..Am I slow?
Should be in the HueForge directory. We have seen a few AV programs flag it and we don't know why, most don't. It is possible it got quarantined
