v0.7.0 work is still going ahead. New features, bug fixes, and QoL improvements are being added at the request of my small group of advanced testers.
A few things we know - It is a project breaking build. Your old projects will likely not work the same way. So you should plan on keeping v0.6.5 as it’s own backup version for now.
This is mostly because I fixed some bugs that were holding everyone back. In particular, Blue and Yellow weren’t being treated correctly in many cases. This is fixed. But that fix will change old projects. It also makes the Alpha Color Aware significantly better (There are still issues, but it works significantly better that before with few to no changes).
Okay so let’s talk what everyone wants to hear - Release.
I will be doing my first staged release. I will release to my Commercial Tier backers as a running beta for about a week before full public release (Edit: Yes, if you upgrade to Limited Commercial, you will get access to the beta). As it is a Beta release, the main v0.6.5 release will still be available to download. (This is a good time to point out early adopters with order numbers less than #9217 need to update their downloader)
This change is just too big. It’s been delayed many times and grown into a very functional and feature rich new version. My testers can’t hit all the new features easily (on both OS’s), especially the ones showing up last minute like Color Pop. So I need the Commercial community to help. (It’s a smaller group that Personal Use and I’ve said this would happen since before my first release).
I will not have ALL the new filaments in and will be missing a couple of other tool/documentation items which I will be adding on the fly as they are completed. There will be a LOT of new filaments in, but the Overture library is still in progress (I have TDs but am collecting Hex codes) and they will be all in before final release. Hopefully this method will also remove the need for my standard “hotfix” build when releasing to everyone at once.
I will also work during the Beta Release to record short videos on the new features. Especially ones like Color Pop.
Okay, so do I have a firm day? Not yet. I’m aiming for Friday though - like last week. But I feel much more confident in hitting that target as I’m aiming for a Beta release rather than a full release - a few known issues won’t be a problem. There is just so much cool stuff that I want to get in people’s hands NOW.
In the meantime - happy HueForging!
I have the Limited Commercial MAC OS version 0.6.5 and my order # is above #9217. Do I need to do anything?
It appears playing ‘hookie’ from work to HueForge is paying off ❤️. I will definitely be trying this out right way 😎.
