Thanks for the update. So when is the expected release date or did I miss that it's already out?

It is not out yet, you haven't missed it. I ended up doing a bunch of bug fixing since the last update and am writing the filament library now.

Man i love this. im going to go crazy once i can use my MMU to add multiple colors on each layer. this is great

If I buy the commercial license for $175 today, can I simply download the MAC version once it is released? I want to take advantage of the deal but I don't have windows

Yes you may

Hi, I discovered your program via German discount website (mydealz.de), since you offered nice discount. I was curious, watched some videos, bought your program and now I am here. You definitely need to establish bug collection channel, email or github.

Here is my first bug:

Women in Spacesuit Torso project make HueForge exit on my Dell XPS9560 (Nvidia Geforce GTX1050), Windows 10 Home 22H2. I need to start it over if I want to continue using it. Other projects are opening fine.

Cheers!

The discord link you received in your purchase email takes you to our central bug reporting repository

I suspect I know the problem with that one and it's on my internal bug list (no one else has noticed it). Your GPU memory is too low to load the number of triangles in that model and I don't have a check when loading a Project. I will add that check in the next release.

And will be Windows version?

Good questions. I'm targeting everyday printing so few prior will have such devices, and I certainly don't.

I have my FilaScope model on printables which makes calibrating transmissivity quick, and a decent ballpark measurement is enough for good results.

I do hope that over time, those with better tools will share their filament libraries. If I get enough orders, I might pick up better tools and look at integration.

I do think you might be overestimating what this program can do.

I'm guessing you come from the photography world given your username and your questions.

3D Printing is SO far behind photography in anything related to accurate color reproduction that even TRYING to do that would be pointless at this time as even filaments from the same manufacturer and ostensibly the same color can vary noticeably.

Moreover, without multiple swaps per layer and returning to the same colors over again, it isn't even remotely possible to hit even a modest gamut of the entire CMYK color space in a given print. Every print will be a tradeoff of print complexity and color availability vs attractive output. Even so, it is a huge leap compared to what is out there currently.

As such, what I'm aiming to do is to give a relatively accurate reconstruction of what it will look like given various filament color choices at different layer offsets. I do not (yet) even attempt to give a recommended set of colors and offsets to attempt to accurately reproduce an image. That is well beyond the scope.

The FilaScope gives anyone the capability to characterize the transmissivity to within about 20% of nominal effective transmission which is accurate enough. Front-lit is more sensitive than back-lit but both have pretty wide tolerance for error on transmissivity. Obviously accurate color reproduction would be nice, but even with just rough guesses at the equivalent RGB value for a given filament gives good results. And while I do aim to have a decent filament library, (and have some people with many more colors than me feeding me numbers), the major goal of the library is to make it easy for an end user to store THEIR filaments and load them up for use easily. I hope this helps answer your questions.
